Job Summary:
The Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for providing support and analysis to the actuarial team in assessing risk and determining appropriate pricing and reserving models. This role requires a strong background in mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science, as well as exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills. The Actuarial Analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to the development of actuarial models, and assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform actuarial calculations and analyze data to evaluate potential risks and determine appropriate pricing and reserving strategies.
2. Collaborate with the actuarial team to develop and enhance actuarial models, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
3. Conduct in-depth research and analysis of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging methodologies to support the development of actuarial strategies.
4. Assist in the preparation of actuarial reports and presentations, presenting findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
5. Support the actuarial team in ad hoc projects, including data validation, model testing, and scenario analysis.
6. Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of actuarial databases, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
7. Stay updated with industry best practices, actuarial standards, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and provide recommendations as needed.
8. Collaborate with other departments, such as Finance and Underwriting, to provide actuarial insights and support business decision-making processes.
9. Participate in team meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of actuarial methodologies and processes.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
2. Strong understanding of actuarial principles, methodologies, and practices.
3. Proficiency in mathematical and statistical analysis, including experience with actuarial software and tools.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and data analysis.
6. Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
7. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
8. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
9. Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
10. Actuarial certification or progress towards certification, such as ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society), is preferred.
